D-Robotics Closes $400M Series C as Total Funding Passes $770M
On September 17, D-Robotics, a provider of general-purpose robotics software and hardware foundations, announced that it closed a $400 million Series C round.
The round was led by global investment firm Mirae Asset, with Meituan's strategic investment arm and government-backed platforms including Hefei State Investment, Nanshan Zhansin Investment and Jingquan Capital joining, alongside institutional investors such as Cathay Capital, Huamei International Investment Group, GF Xinde and Beyond Moore. Existing shareholders, among them Hillhouse Ventures, Wuyuan Capital, Linear Capital, Huangpu River Capital, Vertex Growth (Temasek), Prosperity7, Hexuan Capital, Yunfeng Fund and Meituan Dragon Ball, all increased their commitments.
It marks the company's third funding round this year. D-Robotics raised $120 million in a Series B1 round in March and $150 million in Series B2 in early April, bringing the B round to $270 million in total. Together with a $100 million Series A in May 2025, publicly disclosed funding now exceeds $770 million, repeatedly setting a record for China's robotics infrastructure sector.
01. Capital goes to chips and software platforms. According to D-Robotics, the new capital will strengthen the full-compute-range product lineup of its Sunrise chips and build a full-chain software platform spanning data collection, model training, simulation validation and inference deployment, so that software-hardware integrated embodied AI infrastructure can serve development needs ranging from mature categories to general-purpose humanoid robots.
The funding announcement also came with operating data: in the first half of 2026 revenue grew several-fold year on year, cumulative Sunrise chip shipments surpassed 8 million units, and the embodied intelligence business officially entered mass-production-level shipments.
The Sunrise S600 is the key engine behind that growth. Launched in November 2025, the chip won adoption within six months from more than 20 leading customers, including Tashi Zhihang, Qianxun Intelligence, Zibianliang Robotics, UBTECH, Paxini Sensing, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) Co., thanks to its single-chip full-stack compute and end-cloud integrated development toolchain.
D-Robotics now reports customer coverage of more than 50% in the embodied intelligence field, with S600 collaborations spanning humanoid robots, industrial wheeled robots, 3C flexible operations, embodied foundation models and omni-modal perception; most projects have already reached mass-production shipment stage.
02. The "shovel seller" that emerged from Horizon Robotics. Founded in January 2024, D-Robotics was spun off from the robotics division of autonomous-driving chip giant Horizon Robotics. Its legal representative is Horizon founder Yu Kai, while CEO Wang Cong previously led Horizon's AIoT and robotics business for years.
Unlike most companies focused on developing robot bodies, D-Robotics established a "no hardware" strategic path from the outset. CEO Wang Cong has said that "apart from not building the robot bodies, D-Robotics does everything else."
The company positions itself as a provider of general-purpose robotics software and hardware foundations. Its core business centers on Sunrise intelligent computing chips and RDK robotics developer kits, covering scenarios such as humanoid robots, quadruped robot dogs, service and companion robots, logistics AMRs, robot vacuums and lawn-mower robots. The industry likens its role to a "shovel seller" on the embodied AI gold-rush trail: it does not pan for gold itself, but supplies tools to everyone who does.
Behind the sustained capital inflow, the ecosystem moat D-Robotics is building is seen as its core value. The company now counts more than 100,000 developers worldwide across over 20 countries and regions, while its "Gravity" innovation accelerator program has served more than 500 small and mid-sized teams and helped over 200 bring products to market.
