Jingshi Technology Launches VIVA Dexterous Hand, Plays Piano Four-Hands with Pianist

Jingshi Technology has introduced VIVA, a dexterous robotic hand designed for real-time human-machine piano four-hand duets with a human pianist. The company says the hand works with the CADA music embodied large model, giving it capabilities in musical creation, performance, and continual learning.

VIVA uses a hybrid tendon-linkage transmission system. Its joints can reach speeds of up to 1,000 revolutions per second, and a single fingertip can deliver a peak force of 33 N. These specifications support fast, precise movements required for expressive piano playing.

The company, which originated from a robotics team at Zhejiang University, announced in October 2025 that it had raised a Series A round from Ivy Capital. The demonstration required tight coordination between the robotic hand and the pianist, with the CADA model processing musical context and generating responsive actions in real time. Such systems may point toward future robots that can collaborate with humans in creative and time-sensitive tasks. The launch highlights growing interest in embodied AI that combines dexterous manipulation with artistic performance.
