Solid-State Battery Industrialization Gains Momentum; Warm Isostatic Pressing Equipment Emerges as Key Enabler
According to an industry interview reported by Shanghai Securities News, all-solid-state batteries are viewed as a core direction for the lithium battery industry's transformation. The technology is expected to enter a small-scale adoption window for passenger vehicles between 2027 and 2028, signaling an early commercialization phase.
Beyond automotive applications, emerging scenarios such as humanoid robots and low-altitude aircraft are becoming important testbeds for solid-state batteries. These fields require high energy density, safety, and lightweight characteristics, which could help drive demand and validation.
Mass production of all-solid-state batteries hinges on coordinated advances in materials, equipment, and processes. Warm isostatic pressing and other specialized equipment are considered key to overcoming the solid-solid interface contact challenge that has long hindered performance.
Equipment makers including Lyric Robot and Lead Intelligent have already shipped warm isostatic pressing equipment, indicating progress in the manufacturing supply chain. The developments suggest that solid-state battery industrialization is moving from lab research toward pilot production, though large-scale commercialization still requires further cost reduction and process maturity.
