Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Positions AI as Key Industry in First Five-Year Plan
On March 16, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee unveiled the region's first five-year plan for economic and social development (2026–2030). Central to the plan is the promotion of artificial intelligence as a key industry for Hong Kong's future, with the goal of empowering all sectors through AI technology.
The plan outlines a multi-dimensional approach to enhance the AI ecosystem. It calls for a comprehensive push of the "AI+" initiative, which aims to integrate AI across various industries. Furthermore, the plan outlines a strategy for AI-driven industrial transformation, with a specific focus on life sciences and embodied intelligence.
