CRRC Unveils Next-Gen AI-Integrated Metro, Debuts Embodied AI in Rail Transit
At the 15th InnoTrans in Berlin, one of the world's leading rail technology trade fairs, more than 200 Chinese companies showcased their latest products and technologies. CRRC presented three full-scale vehicles: a next-generation digital-intelligence metro train, a hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid locomotive, and an intelligent flatcar. The exhibition serves as a platform for global rail suppliers to demonstrate advances in digitalization, automation, and clean propulsion.
The metro train made its global debut as the first rail transit application of embodied AI. It is equipped with more than 600 sensors and integrates cameras, radar, and an onboard computing platform to capture real-time track conditions and vehicle status. AI then helps identify anomalies and issue fault warnings. According to CRRC, this combination is intended to support safer, more efficient operations and represents a step toward smarter rail equipment. The new metro's sensor suite and AI capabilities reflect a broader industry shift toward predictive maintenance and autonomous monitoring. The hydrogen fuel-cell locomotive and intelligent flatcar address lower-carbon and automated freight applications, respectively.
